Fokker F.28 Fellowship VH-ATG

The photos above and below, taken outside the Hawker De Havilland hangar at Melbourne/Tullamarine on 28 March 1996, shows Airservices Australia Fokker F.28-1000 Fellowship VH-ATG (c/n 11084) in its final colour scheme. The aircraft was returning from a flight inspection and navigation aid calibration trip to RAAF Tindal, Northern Territory. The Airservices Flying Unit had recently moved VH-ATG from their long-time base at Essendon to the HdH hangar at Tullamarine in preparation for closing down the Unit completely. The people in the photo below are, from left to right, Les Harbottle, Ken Matthews and Wayne Gillard.

This date also happened to be the 75th anniversary of the formation of Australia's Civil Aviation Branch of the Department of Defence (later DCA and so on to Airservices Australia).

VH-ATG was first registered to the Department of Transport on 25 Feb 1977. It was transferred to Airservices Australia on 14 July 1995 and was sold on 26 March 1998, having been replaced by IAI Astra VH-FIS, operated on contract by Pearl Aviation and based in Brisbane.

VH-ATG became became C-FTAY on 26 March 1998 and was converted back to standard passenger configuration with airline Canadian Regional. It was later transferred to Canadian North on 16 July 2001.
